A Monstrous Christmas
“Why don’t you let Oscar and Berta do Christmas Eve, Bernard? Their religious group does not celebrate Christmas, so they won’t have family that needs an explanation,” Walter said, remembering the extremist religious group Oscar and Berta belonged to – primarily due to Berta’s continuous talks about The Antichrist, which seemed to be every version of Jesus she didn’t like. And even if that was disturbing to listen to, the truly unsettling fact was that the religious sect the two of them now belonged to wasn’t in the least as extremist as the sect Berta had grown up in, in some remote and dark corner of Jutland.
Night Duty
Emma was getting ready to sell this house. There was something wrong with it. The neighbors had also begun behaving rudely towards her over the past couple of months, and she was sure her house had been broken into because furniture did not just move itself around.

The Sentencing
Chapter 3
…despite his claim to hold a law degree, Herbert truly believed himself to be in the right to commit all the crimes he had been committing for years – break into women’s homes, or as he called it, look around; steal from these homes, and surveil every part of a woman’s life and home, or as he called it, collect evidence; spread outrageous lies and libel, or as he called it, tell the truth; and kill, or as he called it, protect Denmark against the Unwanted.
A Parisian Nightmare, Part 1
Chapter 2 - Part 1
In September, Indian Summer arrived in Paris, and so did a group of monsters. The monsters came from one of the darkest areas of Denmark, not in terms of lighting but in terms of mentality – theirs was a way of life founded on hate and the need to destroy the lives of others, which they did, protected by titles and nepotism. They were evil.
