GETTING LOST IN TRANSLATION?

UNHAPPY ABOUT YOUR COPY?

No worries, you have come to the right place.

My name is My. I have close to 20 years of full-time freelancer experience specializing in translation, copywriting, and what is now called transcreation, an academic background in comparative literature, and continuous education in journalism.

I have worked with materials from some of the biggest brands, and over the years, I have developed strong linguistic precision and a cultural and analytical understanding of European markets and brand identities. I spent approximately 5 years living and working as a freelancer in Paris, developing cross-cultural and linguistic expertise.

I am an expert at transforming nuanced English and French source texts into natural-sounding, high-converting Danish. I specialize in marketing material for high-end industries, including design, European wine, vineyards, gastronomy, tourism, and consumer tech (platforms, apps, e-commerce).

I am located in Denmark.

‍Over the past three decades, I have worked in advertising, language quality analysis at all levels, editing, reviewing, copywriting, translation, fact-checking, and teaching.

By the summer of 2007, I had concluded that being confined to an office all day wasn’t for me, regardless of the office. So in 2007, I decided to cut the biblical cord to financial security altogether.

I packed up everything I owned, placed it in storage, joined the poverty jet set, and traveled for about a year. In the summer of 2008, I ended up in Paris, just my Yorkie pup and me.

Measuring out my life with coffee spoons in the Marais in 2008, I decided to go freelance.

I have been self-employed ever since, aside from a CDD contract, teaching English in a language school in Paris from 2008 to 2009.

Transcreation

(From English & French into Danish)

Not happy with just a translation? Looking for something more, something else? Something our mutual friend AI can’t handle? Then you need a transcreation – a creative translation using professional copywriting techniques.

Transcreation adapts texts and content from one market to another, recreating style, tone, and impact, blending translation and copywriting to ensure the final copy resonates perfectly with your target audience.

  • French: background & proficiency: I attended a private school and have studied French since grade school. Our teachers were native French speakers. I received a very solid foundation in French from a little old lady from Bordeaux, which also helped nurture my budding romantic notions about my French ancestry a little later in life. It was all bound to turn out badly – and it did. I moved to France and lived and worked in Paris for about 5 years…)
